S.E.A.M.S New Year Gas Up 2025

By Steve Rowland

Great New Year celebration with the S.E.A.M.S. gathering, touch of fine weather, cold, but really enjoyable. Read on…

Above and right a good line up of engines with

Our New Year gas up and BBQ was held again at Faygate Village Hall. I am pleased to say the weather was fine, all be it quite chilly but with free hot drinks available in the meeting hall people were able to pop in to keep warm.

We had an excellent turn out of engines, so a special thank you to all of those who dug out an engine to exhibit. I think I counted 14 which filled the site and made a good display. Thanks to Phil and Rowan for roping this event.

It was nice to see some new/recent members, with lots of members re-joining adding to the ones who had sent their subs at the end of 2024. Jackie was managing the certificates and new cards so thanks to her.

John and I manned the BBQ which had been cleaned, stored and transported by Tom Harvey. I believe everybody enjoyed the food and we had some nice comments on the good quality of the burgers. The food donations were most welcome and we did display a sign to say the BBQ to be held at Foxleigh Barn on 2nd and 3rd August will also be funded by the club as opposed to originally looking for a cost per head.

Once the food had finished the table was laden with raffle prizes, which only came from your generosity. It was decided at the AGM that all proceeds would go to a cancer charity of Sue Goodchild’s choice. I am pleased to say this donation has been made raising £56. Thank you to all for making such a good event and start to the year.

I know I often mention this but if any of you have or are restoring an engine or an associated machine we would love to hear your tale. Sadly, from myself, I cannot really add to this. A main focus for me has been on re-decorating/re-flooring our conservatory room and having a shuffle around of existing furniture with a new suite on the way shortly, not very interesting in an engine mag.

We have added an event list of ones we know so far, with Philip Sampson at the helm of “Events Secretary” along with John and me.

Don’t forget, if you are not sure or just don’t know about details of an event, please contact us which we would prefer rather than saying ‘I didn’t know’. Let us all be safe and look forward to a 2025 season.
