Tales from the West by Sean Murrell Spring 2024

A bit of a trip away from Sussex, the rally season started for me at the Abbey Hill Steam Rally in Somerset.
A show where the engine section alone can cover two rugby fields!

I took my 1952 Lister A with its newly fitted dynamo, as pleased with it as I am it was still one of the least interesting engines there, although it was fun to join in with the nighttime running. Section winner was a lovely 1912 Gardener 3V, other engines included a Grimoldby Demon Super, 1½ HP Bates & Edmonds Motor Co, 5HP Corbett Williams and a Sta Rite 4A.

I appreciate it’s a trek but Abbey Hill is always a show worth checking out.

We would love to hear about the rallies you are attending this season and how it all went.

Send your articles to our Chairman Steve who will make sure it appears in our newsletter and on our website.
